The half marathon course is 21,097.5 metres (21.0975 km) long and holds an official international certification from World Athletics – Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

RACE RULES

HALF MARATHON

The Apfel Arena Makarska Half Marathon is a road race with a total distance of 21,097.5 metres (21.0975 km).

The race starts at the Makarska Waterfront (Riva), and the finish line is located in front of Apfel Arena in Makarska.

The race starts on 25 October 2026 at 9:30 AM.

The course begins with a loop through Makarska, continues through Tučepi and Podgora along the coast, and returns via the Adriatic Highway towards the finish line at Apfel Arena in Makarska.

Traffic will be closed along the entire race route.

All healthy participants who are 16 years of age or older on race day may take part in the Half Marathon. Participants under the age of 16 are not permitted to compete in the Half Marathon.

All participants compete at their own risk. By registering for the race, participants confirm that they are in suitable health and physically prepared to complete the race.

The organizer will provide medical assistance in accordance with the regulations governing road running events.

By registering for the race, participants give the organizer permission to use photographs and video recordings taken during, immediately before, and after the event for promotional purposes.

Participants also agree to the use of their personal data for internal communication and promotional purposes, in accordance with applicable regulations.

Refreshment stations will be available along the course at designated locations, with additional refreshments provided in the finish area.

Timing will be carried out electronically using timing chips. Results will be published immediately after the race on utrka.com.

All participants will receive:

• Net time – measured from crossing the start line to crossing the finish line

• Gross time – measured from the official start signal to crossing the finish line

The official ranking will be determined based on gross time.

IMPORTANT

The race bib must be worn on the chest and remain clearly visible throughout the entire race.

Participants must wear and carry their assigned timing chip during the race. Without a timing chip, a participant's result and ranking cannot be recorded.

Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification.

The time limit for the Half Marathon is 3 hours (8:32 min/km).

Unofficial results will be published immediately after the race.

The deadline for submitting an appeal is three days from the publication of the unofficial results. After the appeal period has expired, the results will become official.

A police escort will accompany the leading group of runners.

HALF MARATHON RELAY

Participants register for the Half Marathon Relay as a team of three runners.

Teams may be composed regardless of the gender and age of the participants, provided that all other race rules are respected.

Relay teams are divided into the following categories:

• Men's Teams

• Women's Teams

• Mixed Teams

The relay consists of three stages, with each participant running one stage.

A participant begins their stage after the previous member of their team arrives at the designated exchange area and completes the handover.

Participants running the first stage will start together with the Half Marathon runners.

Participants who are 16 years of age or older on race day may take part in the relay.

Participants aged 14 and 15 may participate with written consent from a parent or legal guardian and a certificate from a sports medicine doctor.

All other rules and responsibilities applicable to the Half Marathon also apply to the relay.

A participant running the first relay stage may also be registered for the individual Half Marathon, subject to prior notification to the organizer.

5 KM RACE

The 5 km Race is a road running event covering a total distance of 5,000 metres.

The race starts at the Makarska Waterfront (Riva), and the finish line is located in front of Apfel Arena.

The race starts on Saturday, 24 October 2026, at 3:00 PM.

All participants who are at least 14 years of age on race day may take part.

Participants under the age of 14 may participate with the approval of a parent or legal guardian and a certificate from a sports medicine doctor.

The time limit is 45 minutes (9:00 min/km).

Traffic will be closed along the race route.

A police escort will accompany the leading group of runners.

All other rules and responsibilities applicable to the Half Marathon also apply to the 5 km Race.

3 KM CHARITY WALK – LEAGUE AGAINST CANCER MAKARSKA RIVIERA

As part of the Apfel Arena Makarska Half Marathon 2026, a charity walk in support of the League Against Cancer Makarska Riviera will be held on Saturday, 24 October 2026.

The participants of the walk will follow the same route as the 5 km race. The start and finish of the walk will be at Veliki mul on Makarska Riva, in front of the City of Makarska building.

The walk will start at 3:00 PM.

This is a non-competitive event. Participants' times and results will not be measured or recorded, and the start numbers do not contain a timing chip.

The purpose of the charity walk is to bring people together in support of the work of the League Against Cancer Makarska Riviera.

All entry fee proceeds will be donated to the League Against Cancer Makarska Riviera.

The entry fee is €10.00.

THE STARTER PACKAGE INCLUDES:

Refreshment stations will be available along the route, and appropriate safety and medical support will be provided for participants.

By registering for and participating in the charity walk, each participant confirms that they are medically fit to participate and takes part at their own responsibility.

For participants under the age of 18, responsibility is assumed by their parent or legal guardian.

By registering and participating, each participant accepts the organizer's rules and gives consent for photographs and video footage taken during the event to be used for promotional purposes by the Apfel Arena Makarska Half Marathonand the League Against Cancer Makarska Riviera.

CHILDREN'S RACES

The Children's Races will take place in front of Apfel Arena.

Categories are separate for boys and girls:

• 9:00 AM – Kindergarten group and younger – 100 m

• 9:30 AM – 1st and 2nd grade of primary school – 300 m

• 10:00 AM – 3rd and 4th grade of primary school – 300 m

• 10:30 AM – 5th and 6th grade of primary school – 600 m

All other rules and responsibilities are adapted to the Children's Races.

RACE REGISTRATION

Registration for the Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay, and 5 km Race is open until 23 October 2026 at 11:59 PM.

In the event of a justified reason preventing participation, it is possible to transfer the registration to the following year's race. However, only the race entry may be transferred.

The race package may still be collected, even if the participant withdraws from the race, until 15 November 2026.

AWARDS – HALF MARATHON

Prize Money

Details regarding prize money will be announced at a later date.

Prize money will be increased by 30% for the first four female runners and the first four male runners who complete the entire race wearing the official Apfel Arena Makarska Half Marathon T-shirt.

Prize amounts are stated as gross amounts and will be paid to the participant's bank account within 30 days of the publication of the official results.

Trophies and medals will be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers in the overall classification.

Medals will be awarded to the winners of the age categories in both the men's and women's competitions.

OTHER INFORMATION

In the event of extraordinary circumstances or force majeure, such as adverse weather conditions, war, pandemics, earthquakes, or other events that may prevent the race from taking place on the scheduled date, the organizer reserves the right to postpone or, as a last resort, cancel the event.

In the event of postponement or cancellation, entry fees are non-refundable.

Participants will be offered the first available alternative date. If the new date is not suitable, the organizer will allow the entry fee to be transferred to the following year's edition of the race, under conditions determined by the organizer.

The organizer reserves the right to amend or supplement these regulations at any time.
