KRČIĆ TRAIL - THE MOST BEAUTIFUL START & FINISH LINE IN CROATIA!

This year again — run or hike through the most spectacular nature of Knin and its surroundings! The start and finish of the race are set next to a true natural wonder — the 22-meter-high Topoljski buk (popularly known as Krčić Waterfall), where the Krka River springs. The race routes will take you through the stunning landscapes around Knin, with breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the Burum Lakes, the city of Knin, the Knin Fortress, Mount Promina, Croatia’s highest peak Dinara, the Krčić River Canyon, and its other waterfalls.

TRAIL RUNNING LEAGUES:

Krčić Trail is the third round of the newly launched Happy Trail League - a series of trail races that connect incredible locations with unforgettable adventures!

Additionally, Krčić Trail is a guest race of the KontinenTrail League - the trail league of Central Croatia. Runners from this league will collect bonus points by participating in Krčić Trail.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

• Kids' Races – 100 m

Road races with start and finish next to the Krčić Waterfall and the source of the Krka River. Children will run on the road along the upper course of the Krka River, divided into categories by year of birth. Girls and boys of the same age group will start together, but thanks to chip timing, results will be recorded separately for male and female categories, and winners will be announced.

This is a perfect opportunity for all children to experience the magic of the race track, feel the excitement of competition, and create unforgettable sports memories.

The races are open to all children, regardless of which sport they prefer or practice.

• Green Trail | 13 km (↑ 370 m ↓ 370 m)

  A circular trail with start and finish next to the Krčić Waterfall and the source of the Krka River. The first two kilometers feature an ascent on a forest path towards Pliskovo, offering panoramic views of the Burum Lakes, the city of Knin, and the Knin Fortress. The trail continues along a gravel road towards Polača, with open views of the surrounding mountains and peaks of Dinara, Promina, Kozjak, and Plješevica.

  The route then descends into the Krčić River Canyon — the most attractive part of the course. You will descend along the left bank of the river on a single track, with magical views of Mount Dinara and the Krčić Canyon, accompanied by the sound of the river. Once you reach the river, you will continue on the left bank for 5 km, running or walking along a scenic single track that follows this karst beauty, its springs, waterfalls, and lakes. You will cross a bridge at the beginning of Napoleon Road, continue briefly on asphalt, pass the upper viewpoint of the Krčić Waterfall, and descend one more single track to the finish zone.

  This trail is intended for beginner and advanced runners, families with children, Nordic walkers, hikers, and nature lovers who can walk the course at their own pace and enjoy the breathtaking viewpoints and the diverse, attractive landscape.

  The time limit is set at 5 hours, allowing enough time even for a relaxed walk with breaks at refreshment points and scenic spots.

• Blue Trail | 21 km (↑ 1100 m ↓ 1100 m)

  A circular trail with start and finish next to the Krčić Waterfall and the source of the Krka River. The first two kilometers feature an ascent on a forest path towards Pliskovo, offering panoramic views of the Burum Lakes, the city of Knin, and the Knin Fortress. Immediately after the climb, the trail turns left and descends sharply on a forest path leading to a new section — a steep climb and ridge along the very edge of the Krčić River canyon, featuring demanding technical terrain.

  The route continues towards Polača with open views of the surrounding mountains and peaks of Dinara, Promina, Kozjak, and Plješevica. Where the Green Trail turns left into the Krčić canyon, the Blue Trail turns right onto a 3 km circular section, returning to the same path from the opposite direction.

  The course then descends into the Krčić River canyon. You will descend along the left bank of the river on a single track, with magical views of Mount Dinara and the Krčić canyon, accompanied by the sound of the river. You will continue on the left bank for 5 km, running along a scenic single track that follows this karst beauty, its springs, waterfalls, and lakes.

  After 3 km of running along the Krčić River, a challenging ascent awaits you on a steep forest path, followed by a steep descent that leads you back to the river path. You will cross the bridge at the beginning of Napoleon Road, continue briefly on asphalt, and then, after about a hundred meters, face a demanding climb around the Križ viewpoint, offering spectacular views of Mount Dinara, the Krčić canyon, the Krčić Waterfall, Križ viewpoint, and the city of Knin. On the descent past Križ viewpoint, you will connect to Dinarska Street and head towards the upper viewpoint of the Krčić Waterfall, before descending one final single track to the finish zone.

  This trail is intended for advanced runners. It is not recommended for beginners.

  The time limit is set at 5 hours.

• Friday, April 11, 2025 – Start zone, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM

• Saturday, April 12, 2025 – Start zone, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM

A full race pack is guaranteed for all participants who pay the entry fee by Monday, March 31, at 11:59 PM.

Registrations will still be possible after this deadline, up until race day, but the race pack will not include a backpack and T-shirt.

By registering for the race, participants agree that the organizer may use photos and video materials taken before, during, and after the race for promotional purposes. By registering, participants also agree that the organizer may use their personal data for communication and promotional purposes. By registering, participants confirm that they are participating at their own risk. Registration is considered complete upon payment of the entry fee. Payment can be made via online banking or payment slip. Registrations are open until race day and will also be possible on-site, up to shortly before the race start. Refund of the paid entry fee is possible until Monday, March 31, 2025. After this date, refunds will no longer be possible. However, race packs can be collected later by arrangement in Knin.
